The Shahkot police are reeling under staff shortage. There are only 55 police personnel against a sanctioned strength of 106 personnel.
All the 14 sanctioned posts of head constable are lying vacant while out of the 80 posts of constables, 48 are lying vacant. Sources said Home Guards volunteers were doing the job of constables patrolling had been reduced and investigations were suffering. Sources said the shortage of constables is a serious problem being faced by munshi to deal with local complaints.
It has two police posts at Malsian village and Talwndi Sanghera village which are manned by 8 and 7 police personnel.
The Punjab police had declared it as a model police station.
Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that we are comfortably manning the police stations of Jalandhar.
