: The district witnessed a voter turnout of 57.99 percent till 4 pm during the Panchayat elections held today, with voting commencing at 8 AM across all 1004 polling stations. Polling is still ongoing for those who reached the booth by 4 PM.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, while overseeing the election process, commended the seamless conduct of the elections, which was facilitated by 7,426 polling staff by the guidelines of the State Election Commission.

Dr. Aggarwal noted that the district administration had meticulously prepared for the elections to accommodate over eight lakh eligible voters. He, along with SSP Jalandhar Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, visited various polling stations to monitor the election proceedings and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements in place.

SSP Khakh informed that more than 2,500 police personnel were deployed across the district to ensure the peaceful completion of the voting process. No untoward incidents were reported throughout the day, underscoring the effective planning and coordination by the administration.

The Deputy Commissioner extended his gratitude to all the voters, polling staff, and security personnel for their cooperation and dedication in ensuring the successful and peaceful completion of the election process.
