Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today directed the concerned authorities to ensure the smooth and prompt procurement and lifting of paddy in the district's mandis. Chairing a meeting with different departments, he stated that the Punjab government is committed to purchasing every single grain brought to the mandis by the farmers. Therefore, while there should be no shortage of facilities for both farmers and labourers, any delay or negligence in procurement and lifting will not be tolerated.
Dr. Aggarwal further mentioned that at the sub-division level, SDMs are holding meetings with farmers, commission agents, and millers to hear their concerns. He assured that these issues have been communicated to the Punjab Government and that the solutions will be provided soon. He instructed the concerned officials to personally inspect the field and ensure timely payment for the procured paddy.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the Punjab Government is committed to ensuring that no farmer faces any difficulty in selling their produce. He instructed that all procurement agencies, mandi board, food and civil supplies departments, etc., should coordinate with SDMs and DSPs for this task so that farmers do not have to face any problems while selling their crops.
