District-level workshop by NCPCR on cyber safety, child protection in schools

: A district-level workshop was organized by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Friday at the local Meritorious School to provide information on the comprehensive manual prepared by NCPCR for the safety of children in schools, including cyber safety. Principals of various government schools and representatives of private schools from the district participated in the workshop.

Chairman Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Kanwardeep Singh addressed the workshop and highlighted every aspect related to child safety. Emphasizing the importance of protecting children's rights and cyber safety, he said that children are the heritage of our nation, and therefore, their safety in every aspect is crucial. Providing information about the commission's working process, he said that the commission is committed to resolving every issue related to children.

He urged the participants in the workshop to thoroughly understand the manual and implement it in their respective schools. He stated that after home, a child spends the most time in school, so teachers, after parents, bear a significant responsibility for children's safety.

, Manmeet Kaur Sahni, a representative of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, provided detailed information on the psychological and social aspects of school safety, as well as the manual prepared by NCPCR regarding child protection in schools. She explained that the purpose of this workshop is also to raise awareness about the responsibility of schools in protecting children from cyber threats. She emphasized that in today's time, when children are spending more time on the internet and social media, their cyber safety is very important.

D.E.O. (Sec.) Suresh Kumar thanked Chairman Kanwardeep Singh for participating in the district-level workshop. Deputy D.E.O. Rajeev Joshi welcomed the guests at the beginning of the workshop.

During the event, District Child Protection Officer Ajay Bharti provided detailed information on the Juvenile Justice Act, teacher Rajinder Singh on cyber safety, and teacher Deepak Kumar on school safety issues. The stage was conducted by teachers Amanjot and Kanchan.

District Program Officer Manjinder Singh, Principal Meritorious School Ajay Bahri, Legal Probation Officer Sandeep Kumar, Nitin from NCPCR, Block Primary Education Officer, Block Nodal Officer, and principals of various government schools and representatives of private schools were also present on the occasion.
