Now indelible ink to be applied on middle finger instead of index after voting on by-polls: DEO

JALANDHAR.

District Election Officer Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today said that indelible ink will be applied on the middle finger of the left hand of voters after they cast their votes in by-polls of Jalandhar West Constituency, instead of the index finger.

This change has come in response to confusion among voters due to the recent Lok Sabha elections, where the index fingers were already marked with indelible ink.

Dr. Aggarwal explained that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued new directives to mitigate this confusion. The ECI has clarified that during the by-polls, the indelible ink will be applied on the middle finger of the left hand after voting.

The DEO emphasized that all polling staff have been instructed to adhere to these new directives to ensure a smooth voting process and to avoid any inconvenience for the voters. "We are committed to making the voting experience as seamless as possible for everyone," said Dr. Aggarwal.

The change in the indelible ink application aims to ensure clarity and smooth conduct during the by-election, reflecting the administration's dedication to maintaining an orderly electoral process.
