Inter-state arms supply gang busted:5 arrested

The Jalandhar (rural) police have busted an inter-state arms supply gang and arrested its five members. Half a dozen firearms were also seized during the operation.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Ankur Gupta told the media that Phillaur Station House Officer Sukhdev Singh was manning a special Naka near Hi Teck Naka Sutlej bridge and checked motorcycles borne accused heading to Hoshiar Pur and recovered from their possession arms and ammunition.

SSP said that the accused had been identified as Shiv Dyal alias Billa son of Gurdeep Singh a resident of Salaran village under Sadar Hoshiar Pur police station, Jaswider Singh alias Kala son of Bahadar Singh, a resident of Kalra village under Aadam Pur police station and his brother Baljit Singh,Chadar Sekhar alias Pandit son of Des Raj a resident of Davida Ahiranna village under Mehtianna police station in Hoshiar Pur and Gurwinder Singh alias Sucha alias Gindu son of Harmesh Lal a resident of the same village.

Dr Gupta said 4 countries made pistols (32 bores) one pistol (315 bores) eight cartridges (7.05 bore) one live cartridge, and eight country-made magazines were seized from their possession.

SSP said that US-based gangsters Sonu Khatri and Sourav Gujjar are updating these gangsters and gangsters Binni Gujjar and Gajani residents of Davinda village remain in touch with them from jail.

Dr Gupta said that gangster Sourav Gujjar has recruited new gangster Chander Sekhar alias Pandit and supplied him with arms and money.

 

SSP said a case under sections 25(6),25(7) (1) 28(8)/29 of the Arms Act and sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy ) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused at Phillaur police station adding that two of the accused are facing two cases of snatching n Kapurthala.
