Nomination papers of 16 candidates found valid after scrutiny;7 Candidates' nominations rejected

JALANDHAR

Following the scrutiny of nominations for the Jalandhar West Assembly by-election, the nomination papers of 16 candidates have been found valid.

District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal stated that a total of 23 candidates had filed nomination papers, out of which 7 were rejected during scrutiny.

He stated that the nomination papers of Raj Kumar, Inderjeet Singh, Vishal, Ajay Kumar Bhagat, Neetu, Ajay, Varun Kaler, Amit Kumar, Aarti, and Deepak Bhagat (all independents), as well as BJP's Sheetal Angural, SAD (Amritsar)'s Sarabjit Singh, BSP's Binder Kumar, AAP's Mahinderpal, INC's Surinder Kaur, and SAD's Surjeet Kau were found valid.

Dr. Aggarwal explained that the nomination papers of Anju Angular (covering candidate, BJP), Karan Suman (covering candidate, Congress), Atul Bhagat (covering candidate, AAP), and Paramjit Mall (covering candidate, BSP) were rejected because the main candidates' nomination papers were found valid.

Additionally, the nomination papers of Iqbal Chand were rejected due to a proposer being from Hoshiarpur district, Balwinder Kumar due to lack of the required 10 proposers, and Mahinderpal for not signing the nomination form 2-B as a candidate and also lacking the required 10 proposers.
