NAKODAR
During a cordon and search operation (CASO) carried out by the Jalandhar (rural) police, 154 grams of heroin, 55.500 grams of poppy husk, 6750 ml of illicit liquor,100 intoxicant tablets and one electronic weighing machine were seized by the police in Nakodar subdivision.
The district police on Friday carried out Operation Eagle 4 arresting 9 persons with registration of 11 FIRs. The entire operation was supervised by DIG (Jalandhar range) Rajpal Singh Sindhu.
The police teams led by SSP Doctor Ankur Gupta and SPs and DSPs searched 10 drug-hot villages. The police also verified as many as 81 suspects in the district.
SSP Ankur Gupta said that the search operation was aimed to nab those found involved in drug peddling and that the anti-drug campaign would be a continuous process.
SSP said in a press release that the arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Gurmit Singh alias Gorkha son of Pirtha Singh a resident of Dharme Dian Chhana village under Mehat Pur police station and Sandeep Singh alias Sonu son of Resham singh a resident of Kul Gehanna village under Shidhama Bet police station in Ludhiana and seized from them 50 Kilograms and 500 grams poppy husk and Gurpreet Singh son of Satnam Singh a resident of Vehrran village under Mehat Pur police station with 5 KG poppy husk.
SSP said apart from these 154 grams of heroin, one electronic weighing machine was recovered.
He said that 9 grams of heroin were seized from Muskan wife of Rajan a resident of Malarri village and 100 intoxicant tablets from Lakhvir alias Laki son of Vira Ram of the same village adding that 9 bottles of hooch were seized from Lakhwinder Kaur wife of Sewak Singh of Bakar Dhan Chhana village under Mehat pur police station.
Three FIRs were registered at Mehat Pur police station and Two at Nakodar city police station under different sections of the NDPS in this connection.
Doctor Gupta said that the police raided the drug spot villages from June 16 to June 21 arrested 24 accused registered 20 FIRs and recovered 187 grams of heroin,1451 intoxicant tablets 55 kilograms, and 500 grams of poppy husk adding that the police seized Rs 1.2000 lakhs drug money.
