JALANDHAR:

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today paid obeisance at Gurudwara Shaheedan Baba Nihal Singh Ji in village Talhan, praying for the district's prosperity.

Participating in the 73rd Salana Shaheedi Jor Mela of Shaheed Baba Nihal Singh Ji, the Deputy Commissioner remarked that Punjab is the land of Gurus, saints, and revered personalities. Following their teachings, we should contribute actively to the welfare of people, help the weaker sections, and serve humanity.

Afterward, Dr. Aggarwal visited the plant established at Gurudwara Sahib for preparing langar (community meal) with steam, installed for Rs. 20 lakh. This plant can prepare langar for as many as 6,000 people just in 45 minutes.

On this occasion, a five-day medical check-up camp organized by Shaheed Baba Nihal Singh Charitable Hospital was held at Gurudwara Sahib, which commenced on June 12. On the final day of the camp, a blood donation camp was also set up, inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner. He stated that blood donation is a true service to humanity, as it can save lives. He encouraged every healthy individual to donate blood, which does not cause any weakness in the body but rather brings peace to the mind.

He interacted with the blood donors and distributed certificates to them. During the event, he also gathered information from the management about the arrangements at Gurudwara Sahib and the hospital.

The Deputy Commissioner partook in the langar while sitting in the community meal area. Subsequently, he was honoured with a commemorative souvenir by the organizers.

Present on this occasion were SDM Jai Inder Singh, Sub-Registrar Jalandhar-1 Maninder Singh Sidhu, Manager Baljit Singh, and many devotees.
