The Bilga police have arrested a villager on the charge of assaulting a police officer.

Investigating Officer (IO) Satpal said that the accused has been identified as Manjinder Singh alias Ramna son of Resham Singha resident of Kadian village.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gurdev Singh a resident of Bhadma village under Shahkot police station had said in his statement that the police party went to arrest Manpreet Singh in a case of assault registered in 2020. He had said in his statement that when the police reached the home of the accused his brother Manjinder Singh alias Ramna attacked him with a sword and injured him and their mother Sarabjit Kaur helped his son Ramna to flee.

 

IO said that a case under section 307(attempt to murder),186(obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions ), 333(voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty),353(assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty  )224,225( resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension ) 324(voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons or means ) 506(criminal intimidation ) and 34 (committing a crime with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused and his mother and brother.
