The Shahkot police have arrested a couple on the charge of assaulting a 70-year-old co-villager.
Investigating officer (IO)Jagdev Singh said that the accused had been identified as Gursewak Singh, a resident of Memhuwal Yusaf Pur village, and his wife Baljit Kaur.
IO said that a case under sections 323,325 (voluntarily causing previous hurt) 451(house trespass )506(criminal intimidation) and 148 and 149 (rioting) of the IPC was registered against the accused and three other members of the family.
