The Nakodar City police have arrested a woman and a man on fraud and criminal conspiracy charges.
Investigating officer (IO) Rajinder Pal Singh said that the accused have been identified as Rajni Bala Alis Rajini wife of Hardev Singh alias Bagga resident of Botian Wala village under Sadar Zeera police station and presently living in Mohalla Guru Nanak Pura Jalandhar and Ashish Kumar alias Ashu son of Ashok Kumar a resident of Biant Nagar Moga.
Viral Joshi legal representative of Indian First Life Insurance Company Limited Gurgaon Brihan Mumbai, Maharashtra had complained to Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police that the accused and their other accomplices with common intentions had opened accounts in various banks by submitting fake documents.
The complaint said that the accused sent fake documents to the company to surrender money of various policyholders in fake accounts and thus credited Rs 82,45,512 to these fake bank accounts and committed fraud and were trying to commit fraud of Rs 36 Lakhs more.
IO said that a case under sections 419(cheating by personation),420(cheating)465,467,468,471(fraud)511(attempting to commit offenses punishable with imprisonment for life), ), and 120-B(criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and 66-D of the Information Technology Act was registered against the accused. Their two accomplices and residents of Jalandhar city were arrested earlier.
