Four days after the election results in which Bholath MLA and former LOP Sukhpal Singh Khaira,who was contesting from Sangrur lost, came out with his analysis of his defeat.
Nearly squarity blaming his party, as he says that he has fought the elections almost”sigle handedly” on the asking the party even though he was not in a race of ticket for parliamentary elections, Khaira terms his defeat to many factors.
“When I arrived in Sangrur, Dalvir Goldy ditched me, three halqas were already lying vacant without any in charge and one of them went to contest elections. Thus five asembly segments were lying vacant,” Khaira said in a post on X Friday.
He said that AAP candidate was getting unmatched support from Chief minister himself being his former Parliamentary constituency, three ministers were there besides others and Dera Premis and some farmers organization also supported AAP candidate Meet Hayer.
But again touching a Panthic cord, he has intensified his attack on Meet Hayer asking him if he would be able to raise the issues of UAPA,NSA,release of Bandhi Singhs and farmers issues.
It is pertinent to mention that now MP elect from Khadoor sahib, Bhai Amaritpal Singh was incarcerated in Dibrugarh under NSA by Bhagwant Mann led government.
Even in a dramatic chase, AAP supremo also allegedly said that Punjab and Centre closely worked to arrest Amaripal and others, pro Kahlistan leaders.
“I would have taken up all these issues irrespective of my party line,” said Khaira in his post on X.
While on June 4, Khaira had posted that he was saddened but not disheartened on his defeat, many users of social media platform X questioned his intentions to contest from Sangrur.
“Thank you for doing well for the INDIA alliance,” posted a reply.
“You came to divide the Panthic Vote to ensure victory of Simranjeet Singh Mann,” was another reply.
"Punjab has lost here and Delhi won,” replied another X user.(meaning the design of fielding candidates was prepared by congress high command and AAP, an INDIA alliance partners)
Some suggestions were that Khaira was used by the AAP and Congress game plan to ensure the victory of the AAP nominee.
Most commentators smelled something wrong on his contesting from Sangrur intentionally or unintentionally.
