Two travel agents booked for duping man of Rs 5.56lakhs

 

NURMAHAL

 The Bilga police have booked two travel agents for allegedly duping a man of Rs 5.56 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad. 

 

Phillaur Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP) Swarann Jeet Singh who is investigating officer in the case said that the accused have been identified as Gurcharan Singh son of Kewal Singh a resident of Mehat Pur village in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district and Tarsem Lal alias Som Nath son of Sital Ram a resident of Sekhu Pur village under Bilga police station  

DSP said that Rajwinder Kumar a resident of Mehsam Pur village complained to Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) that he had paid Rs 5.56 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration to Denmark. However, they neither sent him abroad nor returned the money.

 

DSP said a case under Sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)and Section 13 of the Travel Profession Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
