The Shahkot police have booked six persons including two women on charges of assaulting a co-villager.
Investigating officer (IO) Parwinder Singh said that the accused have been identified as Kulwinder Kaur wife of Resham Sigh a resident of Meinye Wal Araiyan village, her sons Gurwinder Singh, Davinder Singh, and Munish Singh, and Amarjit Kaur wife of Manjit Singh a resident of the same village and her son Harpal Singh.
Ajmer Chand a resident of the same village complained to the police that the accused waylaid him and his father on June 6, attacked and injured them.
IO said a case under sections 323,324, 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt),341(wrongful restraint, and 148 and 149 (rioting) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
