The Bilga police have arrested a miscreant on the charge of attacking a police officer.
Investigating Officer (IO) Satpal said that the accused has been identified as Baljit Singh alias Jeeta son of Parminder Singh, a Umare Wal Billa village resident.
Punjab Police’s senior constable Davinder Singh posted at Phillaur police station had complained that he came to Burj Hassan village where the accused and others helped a wanted accused to flee and tried to kill him beneath a tractor.
IO said that a case under sections 307(attempt to murder) 332(voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty.) 353(assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186(obstructing public servant in discharge of public duty) 224(resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension ·)323(voluntarily causing hurt)506(criminal intimidation) n and 148 and 149(rioting) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused and others in June 2023.
