The Shahkot police have arrested one person and booked seven others on the charges of attempting to murder a villager.
Investigating officer (IO) ButaRam said that the arrested accused had been identified as Satwarg alias Sago, an Akbar Pur Kalan village resident. He told the booked accused had been identified as Vishal of Akbar Pur village , Taranjit Singh and Jasvir Singh residents of Udho Wal village, and their four unidentified accomplices.
Lovpreet Singh a resident of Parjian Khurd village e complained to the police that the waylaid him on 24 May attacked him with sharp-edged weapons to kill and seriously injured and threatened him.
IO said a case under sections 307(attempt to murder) 323,326(voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 506(criminal intimidation) and 34(committing crime with common intention) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
The police also booked two persons for assaulting Balwinder Singh of Model Town Shahkot said IO Gurnam Singh.
