With the district administration finalizing the arrangements for counting the votes, the stage was all set for the counting of votes for the Jalandhar Parliamentary Constituency.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth counting of votes for Lok Sabha Elections.
While reviewing the final arrangements put in place, the DC said that adequate arrangements for security and counting of the votes have been made by the civil and Police administration. He also said that no stone would be left unturned to ensure that the entire process was completed peacefully.
He also said that the EVM and VVPAT machines were constantly under CCTV surveillance and three-tier security was being provided to it by the state Police, Punjab Armed Police, and Paramilitary Force. Likewise, he said that to ensure law and order situation outside the counting halls, the Rapid Action Force, Quick Response Team, and others along with the Riot Control Vehicle have been deployed. He said that strict vigil was being kept to maintain law and order at every cost.
Pertinently, the counting of votes would take place simultaneously at all the counting halls from 8 am.
He said that for the Phillaur assembly constituency counting center has been set up at the Mess Hall, Ground Floor, Government Arts and Sports College, Kapurthala Road.
Likewise, hall no two of State Patwar School will be counting the center of the Nakodar assembly segment, followed by the Hall on the Ground Floor, and the Hall indoor stadium at the sports college will be counting centers for Shahkot and Kartarpur Assembly constituencies respectively.
Similarly, the Gymnasium Hall of Sports College, Hall no 1 State Patwar School, Dining Hall Sports School Hostel, Pavilion Hall Government Arts and Sports College, and Hall left side indoor Stadium Sports College will be counting centers for Jalandhar West, Jalandhar Central, Jalandhar North, Jalandhar Cantt, and Adampur Constituencies respectively.
