The voting process for Lok Sabha Constituency 04 - Jalandhar (SC) concluded peacefully on Saturday, recording a total polling percentage of 59.07 percent. The figures for postal ballots are yet to be included. Despite various efforts by the SVEEP team, the target percentage of 70 percent could not be maintained perhaps due to hot weather conditions.
Providing more details, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal stated that within the Lok Sabha Constituency 04 - Jalandhar (SC), the polling percentages were as follows: Phillaur - 57.80%, Shahkot - 58.79%, Nakodar - 58.40%, Kartarpur - 57.98%, Jalandhar Central - 56.40%, Jalandhar West - 64%, Jalandhar North - 62.10%, Jalandhar Cantonment - 57.95%, and Adampur - 58.50%.
Notably, the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency recorded 54% polling in the by-election held in 2023.
Dr. Aggarwal informed that the counting process will commence on June 4, 2024, at 8 AM, for which the administration has made robust arrangements.
The Deputy Commissioner extended his gratitude to all officials, staff, security personnel, and the public for ensuring a peaceful voting process.
