Two arrested for bribing voters.

 

SHAHKOT

The Shahkot police have arrested two persons on the charge of bribing voters to vote in favour of a particular candidate.  

Investigating officer (IO) Balbir Chand said tht the accused have been identified as Sarbann Singh alias Judge son of Mehar Singh a resident of Birr Ballioki village and Sudarshan Sobti alias Kala Pehalwan son of Gian Chand a resident of Bhirra Bazar near Mata Mandir Wali Street Shahkot.

Sandeep Kumar a resident of Aadramaan village complained to the police that the accused was bribing voters at the Parjian Kalan polling station and organizing a booth camp in support of a particular candidate.

IO said that the accused Judge was arrested on whose interrogation Kala Pehalwan was nominated and arrested.

 

IO said a case under section 188(disobedience to an order lawfully promulgated by a public servant) and 171-E (punishment for bribery) of the Indian Penal Code had been registered against the accused who were released on bail.
