The Mehat Pur police have arrested three persons including a couple on the charge of selling liquor during polling violating the government order to close liquor vends.
Investigating Officer (IO) Davinder Singh said that the accused have been identified as Jasvir Singh alias Shira son of Baldev Singh a resident of Birr Balloki village, his wife Paramjit Kaur, and Manpreet Kumar alias Kali a resident of the same village.
Io said that the police had received a piece of information the accused were selling liquor in their house because the government had banned the sale of liquor during polling and seized 24 bottles of liquor and a case under sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused.
