Travel agent arrested for duping villager   of Rs 8 Lakhs

 The Lohian Khas police have arrested a travel agent for allegedly duping a villager of Rs.8 lakhs on the pretext of sending him abroad.

Investigating officer (IO) Jasveer Singh said that the accused had been identified as Gurpreet Singh, son of Jugraj Singh, a Fateh Pur Bhangwan village resident under Lohian Khas police station.

The investigating officer said that Dharamvir Singh a resident of Punia village under Shahkot police station had complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he had paid Rs 8 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration to Italy. But he was not sent abroad nor returned the money.

 

IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), and 420 (cheating)of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused who is also wanted in another case of cheating registered in April 2024.
