JALANDHAR
District Election Officer Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal announced that the district administration has made comprehensive arrangements at polling stations to protect voters from the intense heat on election day which is  June 1. With a total of 1951 booths set up across the district, the administration has ensured ample provisions for drinking water, shade, toilets, wheelchairs, and medical teams.

Dr. Aggarwal emphasized that 97 model polling booths have been established, offering additional facilities such as tents, shamianas, and Chabil (refreshment stalls) to provide extra comfort for voters. These model booths are designed to enhance the voting experience and ensure voters' well-being.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the appointment of volunteers and medical teams at each booth to assist voters and address any issues that may arise. He urged voters to cast their votes early in the day to avoid the peak heat hours and ensure a smoother voting process besides appealing to them to keep themselves hydrated during the voting process.

Dr. Aggarwal also appealed to the citizens of Jalandhar to turn out in large numbers on June 1, emphasizing the administration's goal of achieving over 70 percent voter turnout. He encouraged voters to exercise their democratic right and participate actively in the electoral process.

"The district administration is committed to providing a comfortable and safe voting environment for all voters. We have taken every measure to ensure that the heat does not deter anyone from casting their vote," Dr. Aggarwal stated. He reiterated the importance of voter participation and the collective effort to achieve a high turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
