Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Dr.  Himanshu Aggarwal, and Commissioner of Police Rahul S. today jointly conducted a visit at the post-poll EVM strong rooms, and counting centers wherein they took stock of arrangements and security situation. They also visited the polling centers situated at MGN School. 

They minutely inspected the strong rooms and counting centers constructed at Government Arts and Sports College, State Patwar School, Office of the Director of Land Records and Government Sports School Hostel and issued necessary guidelines to the Assistant Returning Officers and their police counterparts. 

They also reviewed the counting centers set up for Jalandhar North, Jalandhar Cantt, Jalandhar West and Jalandhar Central. 

They said that the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India for strong rooms and counting centers should be strictly followed and there should not be any deficiency in terms of security. 

The Deputy Commissioner said that after voting for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha election on June 1, the voting machines will be secured at the strong rooms under 24-hour e-monitoring and multi-layered security and will be brought to the counting centers on June 4, the counting day itself.   

They also obtained information about backup of cameras, uninterrupted power supply, fire safety measures, etc.

The Police Commissioner said that adequate security arrangements have been made for the protection of the voting machines in the strong rooms after the polls and for the smooth and transparent conduct of the counting process. 

Punjab Police, State Armed Police, and CAPF will be deployed for strong rooms, he said, adding that this is a three-tier security system. He said that no one will be allowed to interfere during the election and counting process.
