Special police observer  Deepak Mishra and special expenditure observer B. R. Bala Krishnan for Punjab appointed by ECI for Jalandhar Lok Sabha polls have asked the officials to perform their election duty assuming as a 'duty to the nation' with zeal and commitment so that the level playing field is to be ensured for free and fair voting on June 1st.
Today in a marathon meeting with the police observer Satish Kumar, general observer J. Meghanath Reddy, expenditure observer Madhav Deshmukh, DEO Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, Commissioner of police Rahul S, and SSP Ankur Gupta along with all AROs and AEOs, said that peaceful voting is the top priority of ECI which has to be ensured with the implementation of “ rule of law “ in spirit and manner.
Besides, he made it clear that the poll officials must not allow any gathering in the 100 meter of polling booth under section 144 so that sense of security to be provided to every voter to cast his / her vote without any fear. Terming the last 3-4 days before voting as a Crucial phase, Special police observer also reviewed the mechanism of strict enforcement of the model code of conduct, working of flying squads, FST /SST, and inter district check posts.
He also said that to check the use of liquor and cash in the election, proper implementation must be ensured for monitoring of liquor production/liquor vendors besides checking of vehicles, especially on inter-district nakas .
Besides that, he also said that observers / ROs/ AROs/ and their police counter must visit the polling booths, especially the vulnerable polling booths and expenditure-sensitive pockets.
Speaking in the meeting, special expenditure observer B R Balakrishnan asked the assistant expenditure observers to keep a hawk-eye on banking and finance corporation transactions. Besides that, the lead bank manager has been asked to submit suspicious bank transactions daily. He also said that the social media accounts of candidates are to be checked on a regular basis and expenditure occurred on promotion/ boosting of posts to be counted in the account of candidates.
Meanwhile, DEO Dr. Aggarwal has assured the special observers that the district administration has made adequate arrangements for free and fair polls as more than 9300 polling personnel have been trained for smooth polling on June 1st. He also informed that assured minimum facilities like ramps, electricity, drinking water, furniture, shaded waiting areas for voters, toilets , wheel chair facilities would be ensured besides organizing shabeel, ORS, coolers, and extra fans given heat wave would be provided at all 1951 polling booths .

Commissioner of police Jalandhar Rahul S and SSP Jalandhar rural Ankur Gupta informed that elaborate security arrangements have been made for peaceful polling in Jalandhar Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency.
