Two villagers arrested for attacking police officers

 

NAKODAR

The Nakodar City police have arrested two villagers on the charge of attacking police officers.

Investigating officer (IO) Rajinder Pal Singh said that the accused have been identified as Sahil Sahota alias Sultan son of Kuldeep and Gurwinder Singh alias Yash son of Kuldeep Singh both residents of Aalowal village.

IO said that he along with the police party was on duty in connection with Prime Minister Narinder Modi’s visit and was manning a Naka on GT Road near Fauji Dhaba.

IO said assistant sub-inspector (IO) Amrik Singh signaled to stop an SUV(PB07-AX8670) with black film on its windows.

IO said that the vehicle driver stopped, opened the window, and started abusing the police officer.

IO said that both occupants were told that due to PM’s visit, all vehicles were being checked and requested them to come outside for vehicle checking.

IO said the conductor side occupant came out from the vehicle and started assaulting ASI, abusing him, and tearing his uniform and his accomplice joined in the attack.

 

IO said the police team overpowered the accused and arrested them under sections 353(assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty),186(intentionally obstructing the performance of a public function by a public employee.)332(voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty ·) of the Indian Penal Code and section 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
