The Bilga police have booked an ex-secretary of a cooperative society for embezzling money deposited by shareholders, society’s pesticides, and fertilizers worth Rs 12.29 crores.
Phillaur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and investigating officer in this case Sarwann Jit Singh said that the accused has been identified as Manpreet Singh son of Satnam Singh a resident of Khokhe Wal village.
Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies Phillaur Anju Bala complained to the Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) that the accused worked as secretary of the Khokhe Wal Cooperative Agricultural Services Limited Society and embezzled Rs 12.29 crores of society and a case should be registered against him.
SSP returned the application with some objections and other officers of the cooperative department inquired further removed all objections and found allegations of embezzlement levelled against the ex-secretary.
SSP asked Phillaur DSP for investigations who found allegations of embezzlement of Rs 12,29 crores of society correct and sent his report to SSP recommending a case against the accused.
SSP ordered the Bilga station house officer to register a case under sections 406(breach of trust and 409(criminal breach of trust by the public servant.) has been registered against the accused who is absconding.
