The Nakodar City police have arrested an Amritsar resident on a charge of stealing purses, cash, and other valuables from people at busy places.
Investigating officer (IO) Rajinder Singh said the accused has been identified as Pardeep Kumar alias Mattu son of Subash Chander a resident of Milap Avenue Kale Ghannu Pur under Chehratta police station.
IO said that the police had received secret information that the accused indulged in stealing from residents at busy places and had stolen many items from people as the day was very busy and was waiting at the bus stand to flee and was nabbed during a raid.
IO said that a case under sections 379 (theft) and 411 (receiving dishonestly stolen property) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
