The Shahkot police have arrested a Punjab Roadways bus driver on the charge of killing two persons.
Investigating officer (IO) Sarwan Singh said that the accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar son of Rattan Lal a resident of 287/13-Gopal Nagar Gurdas Pur.
IO said that the deceased has been identified as Chet Ram son of Tara Chand a resident of Narang Pur Hansi village under Shahkot police station and Kamajlit Kaur wife Lal Chand a resident of Fajal Wal village under Shahkot police station.
Dilbar son of the deceased Chet Ram complained to the police his father drives a passenger tempo from Parjian Kalan to Shahkot.
He said his father was going to Shahkot with the passengers on May 20 morning and turned to Shahkot from Moga Shahkot Highway and was on the service road when the accused bus driver who was driving very fast and negligently his father’s tempo loaded with passengers and injured them seriously and his father and Kamaljit Kaur died on the way to hospital and other passengers have been admitted to hospitals and demanded legal action against roadways driver
IO said a case under sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) 279(rash driving on a public road) 337,338(causing harm by an act endangering personal safety or the lives of others) and 427(mischief) have been registered against the accused. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the families after post-mortem.
