Second randomization of EVMs for booth-wise distribution of voting machines

JALANDHAR
The second randomization of the electronic voting machines and VVPATs used during the elections for Lok Sabha Constituency-04 Jalandhar (S.C.) on June 1 was conducted here today under the supervision of General Observer J.  Meghantha Reddy and District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal. The representatives of various political parties/candidates were also present during this process.

Giving more information in this regard, the District Election Officer said that 1951 polling booths have been set up in the district for the smooth conduct of the polling process, for which a total of 4682 ballot units, 2340 control units and 2533 VVPATs to be utilized.  The randomization process for booth-wise allocation has been completed.

He said that 20 % of the ballot and control unit and 30 % of the VVPATs have been reserved.  He also said that since the number of candidates for the Lok Sabha constituency is more than 15, two ballot units will be installed at each polling booth.

He said that the district administration is committed to conducting the Lok Sabha elections in a smooth, independent, and fair manner, for which adequate arrangements are being made.
