The total purchase of wheat grain by the state government agencies from farmers on Monday y crossed 5 lakhs 04854 quintals which is more than the fixed target of 4 Lakhs 392459 quintals in grain markets under the jurisdiction of the Shahkot market committee.
Shahkot SDM Rishabh Bansal and committee secretary Tejinder Kumar said this year’s purchase is more than target despite bad weather adding that purchasing agencies are expecting some 3 percent more quintal purchases. Tejinder Kumar said that 314449 quintals of purchased wheat had been lifted 190405 1,57,592 quintals remained un-lifted, and farmers have been paid till 5 May. Kumar said that the expected yield per acre is 23 to 24 quintals.
