The Mehat Pur police have charged unidentified miscreants with cheating a woman of Rs 5.5 Lakhs by online method.
Shahkot Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Yadwinder Singh the victim Raj Kaurs wife of Surjit Singh a resident of Loh Garh village under Mehat Pur police station complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that the accused duped her of Rs 5.50 Lakhs by online method and legal action should be taken against the accused.
SHO said that a case against the accused and a case under section 420(cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66 (C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act have been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
