NAKODAR
The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested an Amritsar-based gangster, who was declared a proclaimed offender (PO), on the charge of murdering prominent Kabaddi player Sandeep Singh.
Station House Officer (SHO) Jai Pal said that the accused has been identified as Swarndeep Singh alias Swaran Singh son of Sukhraj Singh a resident of R/46-A, Pritam Enclave near Golden Gate Amritsar and presently living at Kila Mehra village under Jandiala Guru police station who was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by a court under section 299 of the Cr. P.C.
Angrej Singh son of Swaran Singh a resident of Nangal Ambian village under Shahkot police station had complained to the police that his brother Sandeep Singh a prominent Kabaddi player came to Mallian Kalan village with his team to participate in a tournament on March 14.2022
He had said in his complaint that around 6 P.M five unidentified car-borne armed accused discriminately fired at his brother who fell on the ground bleeding profusely and the accused again fired some gunshots at his brother who succumbed to his injuries in a clinic adding the accused opened fire while fleeing and injured two persons.
The station house officer said that a case under sections 302(murder) 307(attempt to murder )120-B (criminal conspiracy 212,216 (harbouring offenders) 201(causing disappearance of evidence of offense) 482(using a false property mark) and 148 and 149(rioting) of the IPC and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused and others in March 2022.
