DC issues directions to ensure sale of clean and quality food items for people in Jalandhar

To ensure sale of clean and quality food products for the people of the district, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today directed the District Health Officer to conduct food sampling at the food shops/institutions regularly in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the instructions have been issued given the health care of the people as he had received complaints regarding the sale of poor-quality food items by some shops/institutions.
Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal further said that it is very important to take special care of the cleanliness of the food and beverages being sold by shops and other eateries. He also stated that the food items sold in the district must be of good quality as this issue is related to public health.
He directed the District Health Officer to provide adequate training to these establishments to provide safe and clean food to the people.
Training should include knowledge about maintaining cleanliness and hygiene during the preparation, serving, and packing of food and beverages. He also asked the health officer to issue an advisory to these food establishments regarding cleanliness.
The Deputy Commissioner also gave instructions to the health department to carry out regular sampling at these shops/eateries so that appropriate action can be taken against violators in case low- or poor-quality food items are found being sold to people. He also asked the officials to submit a compliance report to him regarding awareness and enforcement activities.
