Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and DIG (PAP) Rajpal Singh Sandhu today chaired a meeting for hassle-free traffic at PAP and Rama Mandi Chowk with officials from NHAI, railway and other stakeholders.
During the meeting, the Deputy commissioner directed the NHAI officials to submit a revised proposal by May 3, to resolve the traffic problem being faced by commuters at PAP Chowk, especially by those traveling from Jalandhar city to Amritsar via this chowk.
The Deputy Commissioner who had visited the PAP Chowk a few days ago and took stock of the problems faced by the people in the traffic, instructed the officials of the National Highway Authority to submit proposals regarding the construction of additional attachments for smooth traffic, which today was thoroughly discussed.
The Deputy Commissioner and DIG said that a detailed survey should be conducted about the vehicles passing daily at PAP and Ramamandi Chowk so that traffic problems can be removed.
Apart from this, orders were also given to install proper signage on the highway so that people could travel easily. He also said that any kind of lapse in the quality of engineering design work will not be tolerated.
