To ensure maximum participation of voters during the Lok Sabha elections 2024, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal has invited the non-governmental organizations and clubs of the district to be a part of the voter awareness campaign.
During a meeting at the District Administrative Complex here today, the Deputy Commissioner directed the representatives of various NGOs and clubs of the district to motivate the people coming in contact to exercise their right to vote on the day of polling on June 1.
He encouraged the representatives present during the meeting to come forward to connect with all sections of society with this democratic process for the strengthening of democracy so that no eligible voter is deprived of exercising his right to vote.
Dr. Himanshu said that these organizations, which are connected with the people through social welfare activities, can play an important role in motivating voters to participate more in the electoral process.
He asked the representatives of the institutions to encourage the voters, especially the elderly, disabled and young voters, to vote ethically so as to ensure maximum participation of the people in this biggest festival of democracy.
Meanwhile, the DEO appreciated the work being done by these organizations for social welfare and encouraged them to do more work for social and public welfare to make Jalandhar clean and green. He said that the administration will regularly hold meetings with NGOs and clubs.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (J) Major Dr. Amit Mahajan, SDM Dr. Jai Inder Singh, District Red Cross Society Secretary Interdev Singh Minhas, District Program Officer Manjinder Singh, and representatives of various NGOs and clubs were also present.
