The Nurmahal police have charged three miscreants with cheating a journalist.
Superintendent of Police (PBI) Jalandhar (rural police said that the accused have been identified as Ravi Kumar son of Bhajan Lal a resident of Sabuanna village, Anil Kumar son of Dala Ram a resident of Bhandi Wala village and Kulwinder Singh son of Gurmej Singh a resident of Kamal Wala village in Frroze Pur district.
Gurdeep Singh a resident of Tagarr village and chief editor of a YouTube news channel complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that the accused were operating a group on a social media site named Lucki Dray Mobile Villa Dirba and gave an advertisement of a lucky draw and collected Rs 299 per member and had fixed date of 20 January 2023 for the opening of the draw but never opened it and thus cheated may residents of crores of Rupees and legal action should be taken against the accused
SP said that SSP marked an inquiry to the cyber-crime cell which transferred the inquiry to the Deputy Superintendent of the Police (Special) branch who submitted his report to SSP recommending registration of a case against the accused and a case under section 420(cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act has been registered against the accused on the order of SSP.
