The Mehat Pur police have arrested a Nurmahal villager
n on the charge of murdering an unidentified person.
Investigating officer (IO) Davinder Singh said that the accused had been identified as Harjit Singh alias Bagga a resident of Shamsha Bad village under Nurmahal police station.
IO said that Sarpanch Bachan Singh of Rai Pur Gujran village had informed the police on November 201 that a half-burnt human body is laying at Dhussi Bandh of River Sutlej near Rai Pur village.
IO said that the police had reached the spot and recovered the burned body of an unidentified person who could not be identified.
IO said that the accused murdered an unidentified person and burned it by throwing it in a paddy husk stack to destroy it.
IO said that a case under sections 302(murder) and 201(causing disappearance of evidence of offense,) of the IPC has been registered against the unidentified accused, and further investigations are on.
