DEO calls upon youth for greater participation in stronger democracy

District election officer-cum- Deputy commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal urged the youth for greater participation for stronger democracy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Today addressing the youth at a National seminar at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University under SVEEP activities Dr. Himanshu said that “ we all should be a proud member of the largest democracy in the world “ which allows us to use our democratic rights in a free and fair manner “.

Terming the youth, especially falls between 18 to 19 years of age as a brand ambassador of voter awareness , DEO said that the district administration had chalked out a comprehensive plan to engage maximum people under SVEEP activities to achieve the target of 70 % voting .

Hailing the efforts made by students / youth for voter awareness amongst people, DEO said that all first voters who will cast their voters on June 1st 2024 will get appreciation letter by poll officials.

He also led the administration to take pledge for ethical voting along with a large number of students besides launching the signature campaign by writing slogan “ I vote for sure “ which will be performed across the district.

He also said that youth will be able to get the 25% discount on meal after showing the inked finger on voting day .

Earlier the chancellor of university sant Manmohan Singh , secretary of sant Baba Bhag Singh memorial charitable society Hardaman Singh , VC Dr. Dharmjit Singh , Dr Vijay Dheer Dean academic and other officials of university honours the Deputy commissioner.

He also hailed the efforts of university to encourage the youth for maximum participation in the electoral process .

He also asked the officials to organise special camps in educational institutions to register the eligible applicants as voters so that no youth would be left behind in the electoral process.

Earlier university students presented cultural activities that give the message of ethical voting in the Lok Sabha polls 2024.

Prominent amongst present Sunil Phogat IAS, ADC Jasbir Singh, ARO Puneet Sharma, and officials from various departments and universities.
