DC instructed officials to speed up De-addiction  rehabilitation efforts: submit ATR in  10 days

Deputy commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today asked the members of the governing body of District De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Society and NCORD mechanism Jalandhar to increase awareness activities about the ill effects of drugs besides rehabilitation efforts.

Today chairing a meeting of the governing body of Dist De-addiction and Rehabilitation Society Jalandhar and Narco Coordination Centre ( NCORD) mechanism, Dr. Aggarwal said that spreading awareness, especially in educational institutions about the bad effects of drugs must be the prime focus of society so that energy of youth to be channelized in the right way “.

Besides that DEO school education, District sports officers, Technical Education, and Red Cross departments have been asked to personally monitor the awareness campaigns across the district.

DC also advocates providing skill development and employment opportunities to drug victims so that they will be brought into the mainstream to make them a partners in the development of society.

He said that the common man must be an active participant in the campaign against drugs as they may play a significant role in the war against drugs.

He also said that department officials/ opinion makers / religious bodies would have to work in unison to make the awareness efforts more effective.

DC also reviews the functioning of De-addiction centers at Jalandhar / Nurmahal and Village Shekhe besides staff positions, expenditure of funds, and activities of SUN Foundation NGO at Village Shekhe.

He also reviews the availability of medicines at 28 OATT clinics across the district.

Dr. Aggarwal also asked the concerned departments namely health, agriculture, and police to submit the action taken report against the drugs, rehabilitation, etc in the next 10 days.

He also said that no unauthorized drug de- addiction center would be allowed to be operated in the district and culprits would face strict action.

He also asked the police officials to identify the hot spots of drugs so that an awareness campaign could be launched in affected areas.

Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included additional commissioner MC Jalandhar Amarjit Bains, SDMs Balbir Raj, Dr. Jai Inder singh, and officials from various departments.
