As the wheat arrival in Mandi’s across the district Jalandhar will start in the coming days, the district administration has made adequate arrangements for hassle-free procurement during the 2024 season.
Deputy commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today during his visit to the Jalandhar grain market, said that the administration was all set for smooth procurement in 80 Mandis in the district to meet the target of 5.18 lakh MT.
Instructing the officials of mandi board, food and civil supply, and managers of various procurement agencies like PUNGRAIN, MARKFED, Punjab AGRO, PSWC etc, Dr. Aggarwal said that elaborate arrangements had been made to facilitate the farmers, lifting, and payment to farmers, etc. He categorically mentioned that drinking water, flood lights, gunny bags in adequate numbers along with toilets, etc for farmers/labourers would be ensured. He also said that all procurement agencies/ artiyas would have to arrange the tarpaulins in advance to tackle any adverse weather.
The Deputy Commissioner said that allotment of Mandi to procurement agencies has already been done by the concerned authorities.
