The Lohian Khas police have booked a travel agent for allegedly duping a villager of Rs.8 lakhs on the pretext of sending him abroad.
Investigating officer (IO) Kashmir Singh said that the accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh son of Jugraj Singh a resident of Fateh Pur Bhangwan village under Lohian Khas police station.
The investigating officer said that Dharamvir Singh a resident of Punia village under Shahkot police station complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he paid Rs 8 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration to Italy. But he was not sent abroad nor returned the money.
IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), and 420 (cheating)of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
