Deputy commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today asked the officials to ensure the elaborate flood protection arrangements well in-time keeping in view the coming monsoon season.
Today chairing a meeting with officials of various departments, Dr. Aggarwal said that the drainage department must identify and strengthen the weak areas on the Dhussi bandh from Phillaur to Giddarpindi area.
Besides that, he also asked that a comprehensive plan be made to drain out the water in case of excess water or a flood-like situation as well as an evacuation plan for possibly affected people in advance.
He also said that safe places also to be identified besides setting up control units along with close coordination amongst departments so that district administration will be able to work in unison in case of any emergency. He also emphasized adequate arrangements in advance for livestock like vet medicines, fodder, etc.
ADC Amit Mahajan and higher officials of various departments were also present at the meeting.
