Jalandhar (rural) police on Sunday conducted a special operation ‘Operation CASO’ for searching and rounding up suspicious persons for their verification at vulnerable places in Shahkot police subdivision in view of the Lok Sabha Elections,
The operation was conducted on the directions of Jalandhar (rural) senior superintend of police Dr.Ankur Gupta
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) (special branch) cum Shahkot DSP Vijay Kanwar Pal said in a press note that station house officers of Mehat Pur, Shahkot ,Lohian Khas ,In -charge CIA and officers of Excise department participated in the operation .
DSP said 8.100 kilograms poppy husk ,4.5 lakhs litters of Lahann (raw liquor) and other materials for storing Lahann were recovered and destroyed on the spot and a case under section 15(b) -61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Mehat Pur Police station.
