As per the directions by ECI and continuing drive to curb the illicit liquor, a raid was conducted at Sutlej River Bank near Rampur and Chachowal village by Excise officers Sarwan Singh and Sahil Ranga along with the police team.
Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer Navjeet Singh said during the raid 14 unclaimed plastic tirpals (each 500 kg) containing a total of approximately 7000 kg Lahan, 5 vanaspati ghee containers (each 15kg) containing 75 kg lahann, a total of 7075 kg lahann, and 4 unclaimed plastic bottles containing approx. 10 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered and destroyed on the spot.
He said that the drive against illicit liquor will speed up in the coming days given the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
