Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming wheat procurement season 2024 and issued directions to the concerned officials to ensure the necessary arrangements are in place for the smooth procurement of wheat crops.
He also asked them to ensure that farmers do not face any kind of difficulty in selling their crops in 80 grain markets across the district.
During a meeting with the officials of Food and Civil Supplies, Mandi Board, and procurement agencies at the District Administrative Complex here, the Deputy Commissioner said that during the current season , a target of 5.18 lakh metric tonnes of wheat procurement has been set in the district, for which adequate arrangements to be made .
Giving instructions to make necessary arrangements for the purchase of crops in the mandis, the Deputy commissioner said that all the requisite arrangements including cleanliness, drinking water, sheds, lights, toilets, etc. should be completed before the start of the purchase.
Apart from this, he also reviewed other arrangements including the availability of gunny bags , transportation of wheat, labour, weighing scales, moisture meters, tarpaulins etc.
He asked the officers to ensure individual supervision of the entire procurement arrangements to ensure a smooth and seamless procurement process.
Officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, District Managers of Procurement Agencies, and Officials of the Mandi Board were also present on this occasion.
