The Nurmahal police have two members of the in-law family including an Army Major for dowry harassment.
Investigating officer (IO) and in charge Women’s Cell Jalandhar Inspector Sandeep Kaur said that the accused have been identified as Major Nilanshu Rangi resident of SS-47577X of 66h Armoured Regiment, Ahmad Nagar, Maharashtra, and his mother Sunita Rangi wife of Bhareeg Yashvir Rangi a resident of DLF Valley, Panchkula Haryana
Vipasha Kashyap, a resident of Bhandal Himmat village complained to the police that her marriage was solemnized with Nilanshu but she was being harassed for dowry even since her marriage and forced to leave the house without her dowry items.
IO said that a case under section 406 (breach of trust) and 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the IPC has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and further investigations are on.
