Punjab Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh on Wednesday distributed cheques worth Rs. 14.50 lakh to panchayats of six villages for the construction of mosques and boundary walls in these villages falling in Kartarpur Assembly Constituency.
 
Addressing the gathering while distributing cheques, the Minister said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government was committed to ensuring the welfare and progress of all sections of the society.

He further mentioned that it was a long pending demand of the Muslim community in these villages.

He further mentioned that the Punjab Government was caring for people across all religions and catering to their needs as there was no paucity of funds for this noble cause.

 Balkar Singh visited the Vakhu Nangal village where he handed over a cheque worth Rs. 4 lakhs to the village panchayat for the construction of the boundary wall of the graveyard. He also gave another cheque of Rs. 3 lakhs to maintain a mosque in this village. He also visited villages Bulle, Pattar Khurd, Kurali, and Muridpur wherein he also handed over cheques worth Rs. 1.50 lakh, 2.25 lakh, 2 lakh, and 1.75 lakh respectively for the maintenance of mosques. 

He stated that the state government was already issuing funds for the construction of community halls, mosques, panchayat ghars, Dharamshala, etc. so that people do not face any kind of problem in social and religious works in their villages.
