District Administration Jalandhar today distributed financial aid worth Rs. 50 lakhs to as many as 100 eligible beneficiaries under the inter-caste marriage scheme to facilitate such married couples.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh said that this scheme was aimed at eradicating caste-based discrimination from society besides promoting communal harmony among the masses.
He mentioned that couples who perform inter-caste marriages are eligible for financial assistance worth Rs. 50,000 each under this scheme. He further mentioned that the administration has transferred an amount worth Rs. 30,000 into the account of beneficiaries while National Saving Certificates valued Rs. 20,000 each have also been distributed among all 100 beneficiaries.
The ADC said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led the Punjab Government and was committed to ensuring the holistic welfare of all the sections of the society under which several unique initiatives have already been taken by the government.
He mentioned that this financial aid was given to each couple covered under the ambit of this scheme to facilitate them financially besides safeguarding their interests.
, District Social Welfare Officer Sanjiv Manan said that a total of 100 beneficiaries have received amounts worth Rs. 50 lakhs under this scheme.
