The Lohian Khas police have arrested a villager on the charges of cheating and breach of trust.
Investigating Officer (IO) Kashmir Singh said that the accused has been identified as Ayub Masih son of Munshi a resident of Mandala village.
Balkar Singh a resident of Giddarr Pindi village had complained to the police that a police complaint was filed against Mandeep Singh a resident of Mandala in 2017 by Lakhvinder Singh a resident of the same village on a charge of eve-teasing his wife, Sonia.
He had said that it was agreed during a compromise meeting that Mandeep Singh would pay Sonia Rs 2.50 lakhs for eve-teasing her.
Balkar Singh said that Manjit Singh is his relative and he on his behalf had paid Rs 2.50 Lakhs to the accused Ayub Masih in the presence of honourable persons, but the accused did not hand over this amount to Sonia.
IO said that a case under sections 406(breach of trust) and 420(cheating) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
